Is Revenge Travel finally fading away? Why are olive oil and orange juice prices reaching all time highs? Will the bull-case for Dollar General finally play out as its old CEO comes back?
I travelled more right after the pandemic than in the rest of my life. Now I’m looking to settle in Lisbon, but I’d love to travel the whole world before I’m old.
It was a life-changing experience! I travelled where there were less restrictions due to COVID. Brazil, the Canary Islands, Costa Rica, Turkey, and Panama.
Sounds like such a blast. I actually haven't made any major trips except for visiting home in India (since I live in Vancouver), in the last few years. I am definitely itching to get back on the road again.
I traveled so much when I was touring my whole adult life that buses, planes, trains and automobiles were my home! Lol! I dreamed to stay at home. For me, the last thing I wanted to do was travel following the CV lockdown, but I can certainly understand why people would want to get out and feel freedom again after being imprisoned in their homes during that time.
I can understand how prolonged traveling makes you just want to stay at home and relax. My husband and I were extensively traveling right before the pandemic, so for us, it was actually kind of a weirdly nice feeling to just get to spend time at home. But yeah, the "revenge travel" was real with skyrocketing prices of airlines and hotels, right after lockdowns opened as demand just exploded. That is amazing though, that you got to tour your adult life!!! sounds like such an adventure.
When I got to stay home I felt like I was on vacation. I’m very blessed to have had the opportunity to earn a very good living traveling the world, meeting so many great people and appreciating different cultures. And at a time when it was fun to fly on a plane. In the analog world without TSA searches etc. The invasion of your privacy when you travel today in comparison. I hope you and your husband are going out again and experiencing the excitement of the world!
Olive oil is a necessity, and always on the lookout for a deal, I found in one of the wholesale discount shops… One gal. Of Extra Virgin Olive Oil, sitting by its lonesome on the shelf. No price, no problem as such an opportunity to work a deal is hard to refuse. As I approached the checkout I sized up the most senior cashier so as to allow her to display her authority in the shop… “I found this orphan bottle of old oil that I might be able to use, as long as its not more than $10.00.” As I pulled out one lonely Hamilton…”9.99 be too much?” That’ll work. I mean with inflation pushing prices beyond the pale, it just makes one stop a savor a small triumph in the face of overwhelming odds;)

Thanks Charlotte. Yes, we are very much itching to get back on the road. Your life sounds like such a blast.
