Happy Thanksgiving Amrita. I’m grateful for the support from you and other substackers as I try to get a writing schedule in place. (And continually impressed with your output!). However you must hang out with a much more financial savvy and erudite group at Thanksgiving. At my end there was speculation as to Taylor Swift’s impact on NFL, which fish market in Morro bay has the best oysters, and the pickle festival in New Platz. 😂
Happy Thanksgiving Pamela. Thank you for your kind words as always. Fish market in Morro Bay and pickle festival...sounds like a delicious conversation. Much more interesting than discussing corporate drama in OpenAI. As for me, since I moved out of San Francisco to Vancouver a few years ago, Canadian Thanksgiving is past. But I will most certainly buy some delicious pies from my local bakery in the spirit of Thanksgiving.
Happy Thanksgiving Amrita! Thanks for sharing such a candid story about your first year in the US. As a Spaniard I’ve never celebrated Thanksgiving myself, but I assume it’s a heartwarming holiday for people in America.
It is very much. Lots of food and food coma afterwards. Although I am no longer in the US, I still kind of celebrate in spirit with friends, food and drink.
I was that international student too, and was invited by an American family at the last minute, and remember how warm and beautiful it was...I still don’t celebrate myself because I come from 2 different countries where it’s not a tradition but I still get invitations, I think it should be celebrated more often for the same reason you mentioned: it spreads kindness...
I love your down-to-earth explanations for pie-in-the-sky ideas. You're a pleasant mix between a number-cruncher and a word-crafter. A word-cruncher? Thanks for your support.
Thank you Allan. Glad you found my brief OpenAI explainer helpful, though given the current state of affairs, don't know how long it may stay relevant for.
I know, what drama!!! When I was writing up the post, I was continuously checking the headlines to see if my writeup would even stay relevant by the time it is posted.
Thank you! We had steaks! Lol! There was just two of us this year!
I’m not sure if you have Capriottis in Canada, but they have the BEST Thanksgiving sandwich caked The Bobbie all year long. Easy to copy to make them at home with T’day leftovers! You can make them all year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSQQvEx4uY0
I love the pie chart or I guess it is a pie map! Grape pie? Who knew?!
I thought it was neat too. I know grape pie doesn't sound too right. But who knows, I have never tried it.

Grape pie in Arizona ????
Aliens have landed...LOL !!!
Hahaha....lol. How do you even make a pie with grapes? Well, to your point, aliens can.
Happy Thanksgiving, Amrita.
Happy Thanksgiving Paul.

Thanks for sharing your first Thanksgiving meal story. Hope you have a lovely holiday.
Thanks Elaine. Wishing you the same.
Wonderful, thank you
You are welcome, Happy Thanksgiving if you are celebrating.
Happy Thanksgiving !! 🦃
Happy Thanksgiving Mark!!

It is a lovely experience, isn't it. Since I am no longer in the US, I don't celebrate it anymore. And I do miss the spirit.
This is great! Thank you for sharing!
Of course!! Happy Thanksgiving if you are celebrating.
Thanks for summing up the Altman fiasco so succinctly. It sounds messy!
You are welcome David. The OpenAI fiasco is indeed messy and while Altman is back, I feel the space has suddenly got more uncertain.

Thank you for your kind words. I think you have defined my niche quite perfectly.
Happy Thanksgiving from England! And many thanks for the cogent and clear explanation of what's happening at OpenAI.
Thank you Allan. Glad you found my brief OpenAI explainer helpful, though given the current state of affairs, don't know how long it may stay relevant for.
'What the hell is going on with OpenAI?' This question cracked me up, especially after the 360 stunt with Sam Altman.😂
I know, what drama!!! When I was writing up the post, I was continuously checking the headlines to see if my writeup would even stay relevant by the time it is posted.
Enjoyed the insightful charts, thanks for sharing
Thank you so much, glad you enjoyed it.
What an incredible act of kindness by the college Dean! ✨💖✨🤗🙏
Happy Thanksgiving Amrita! 🦃🍽🍁♥️
It was indeed, and thus my love for stuffing, cranberry sauce and pecan pie was born. Hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving too.

I had never heard of them. But the sandwich does look delicious. Thanks for sharing.
If you like dressing, cranberry sauce and turkey combination these sandwiches are delicious. 😋
