Kellogg’s, the world's iconic cereal company split into 2 to sharpen its focus on snacks. The snack economy is raging & CPG companies concentrate their focus on snack innovation to boost profits.
I am guilty of a massive sweet tooth myself, though lately in the past few years, I do have occasional cravings from salty snacks like chips. What are your thoughts on the new-age snacks with all kinds of fusion flavors? Yay or nay?
Hi Sully - thanks for your question. According to the CEO's commentary and their regulatory filings, Kellanova will retain all of the snacks business. In addition, Kellanova will also retain anything that had to do with the old Kellogg's international businesses. While W.K. Kellogg's will focus on North American Cereals markets.
Hahaha, I am a big old gan of Kellogg's cornflakes too, I think this was the first cereal I ate as a child growing up in India. Though when Chocos came, my loyalty quickly switched to Chocos, obviously. There is something undeniably exciting about these products.
I can relate very well. They are the quickest mood boosters. When I was in high school/college, I would switch between snickers, mars and bounty. Are there any local snacks in Leon or in Lisbon? Or have the big conglomerates captured the local palate?
occasionally the more healthy generation of cereals/musli ... great products for sure in general, but me not much into snacks and sweets ... more into cooking my own food, making even my own chocolate and desserts and all ... :)
That is fabulous!!! I too have moved to cooking my own food, though, I had my fair share of snack binging when I was younger. Making your own chocolates and desserts, that sounds like you are having quite a party in Vienna.
Bravo, best move you can do ;). Hehe yeah, can get creative ... Covid times made me start cooking to keep my mind in a balanced place ... . If/when in Vienna let me know :). Ciao ciao
I don't know whether snacks would substitute proper meals, though if one has been snacking all day long, the person is probably not going to be hungry to eat a proper meal. I think though people have gotten more aware of their health in recent years, snacking is still thriving, which is quite ironic. And you can see that with all the modern snack pipeline of companies, where they they are increasingly pivoting to flavors that appeal to the youth and people are buying plenty.
From the research we did, CPG brands are doubling down on their investments and expanding market share all around the world.
To tie this back to your observations.... it appears that either these companies have found a way around all the ingredients nomenclature and/or they are very sure about their forecasts that the newer generations would be pinched for money (and time) to buy fresh organic ingredients and cook their own food.
Don't buy this poison. Put your limited food dollars toward actual food. Bake a treat once in a while.
Awesome. thanks for this. And I love a Toblerone or chocolate M&M's.
Both are irresistible and a quick mood booster for sure. Sounds like you are a sweet snack kind of person?
Yeas I am. I have a massive sweet tooth which I get from my mother lol. What about you?

Well in the military we have an acronym which I'm pretty sure is well known. It's KISS. Keep It Simple Stupid.
So for me keep it simple. Milk chocolate, Dark chocolate, Fruit and Nut.
Not going to lie though. Nothing beats a huge bag of Cheetos whilst watching the latest blockbuster movie.
Couldn't agree more.
Fine work... And tasty.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the post.
Very much because how goods are packaged mean a great deal on how they are focus on.
Absolutely, the psychology behind the colors and packaging play a huge role in driving consumer demand for these companies.
Especially because Kellogs has gone from a health food to "Fat Forever!" It shows in the corporate org chart.
Sorry. Didn't catch if the new Kelloggs unit is just emerging markets or is it snacks. How is Kelloggs divided now?

Great write up Amrita! thank you!
Thank you Chetan. Glad you liked it.
Call me old school but I'm still a Kellogg's cornflakes guy.

My guilty pleasure are snickers!

There are plenty of local snacks in both cities, but I love "pasteis de nata" in Lisbon. If you ever come visit, you should definitely try them!

I am familiar with them, though I am yet to try the authentic version in Lisbon. Looks delicious!!!
great take, thank you!
Thanks Mav for reading and your feedback. You didn't mention though what your favorite snack is. Or are you more of a disciplined eater?

Interesting insight, Avalina!
