I don't know what the AI market will be like in three years, but I do know that most markets experience contractions after huge capital inflows. My estimate is that a few companies will survive and become the next Google or Facebook. The rest will die when the bubble bursts. It's hard to know when this will happen, but I'm certain this kind of growth isn't sustainable.

The growth rate will definitely slow down, yes. And as far as the bubble is concerned, I think it isn't looking as concentrated as the dotcom bubble, though no doubt the hype is building fast. What is interesting however, is that VC investing has still not come back to its 2021 levels, however, when you look at institutional money, it is heavily concentrated in the Mag7 names, which are mostly leading the way in AI. I think once this cycle fades, that will be new money injection into more and more AI applications that get built out, which should be quite interesting.

20% credit card debt rate is absolutely insane!

It is indeed, and the minimum monthly payment is bonkers. What worries more partially, is that the the buy now, pay later numbers are not reflected in total credit card debt, which makes you wonder how deep the rabbit hole goes.

A really good friend of mine is a wedding planner and owns her own wedding event center, where she can host indoor and beautiful outdoor garden weddings as well. She lives a few ranches down from me and in the summertime when she needs extra help I have helped her in the past. Due to Covid and other health issues she closed her business two years ago but up until that time from about 2010 until current most of her weddings were country shabby chic. Every bride excitingly told her that all of these ideas were their own…. When in fact these ideas came from Pinterest who for years have pushed those type of shabby chic weddings. She always complemented them on their creativity, Even though she knew the ideas came from Pinterest. Many of these brides would think she had the only wedding that was shabby chic. Not realizing the next week there was another shabby chic wedding and the week before that there was also another shabby chic wedding. All done a little differently but the same theme. As charming as they were it’s nice to see there are more options Pinterest is pushing.

Thank you again for another incredible post Amrita. I think I’ve only eaten pop tarts about once or twice in my life and they were strawberry. They were pretty good.

Thanks Charlotte. I have actually go much on Pinterest, and I think this is the first annual trend report I read. But, from whatever little time I have spent on the platform, it has this really positive vibe to it, that inspires a lot of really creative ideas, which I love. That is a really cool story about your wedding planner friend, should be a lot of fun.

As for Pop Tarts, I thought you would have had your fair share of them on your touring days.

I think inflation may persist at low levels in the first 3-4 months of this year with a gradual decline after that.

How is the inflation trend in India at the moment? I need to get up-to-date with my India macro knowledge.

Reserve Bank of India had set a medium term target of 4%. It was 5.55 in November with a slight rise in December to 5.69. But analysts predict a fall by the end of Jan.

Thanks Sanuj, I intend to start reading up and covering India slowly as well, it is certainly a very exciting economy right now.

I expect that Inflation will persist at elevated levels or potentially escalate further, driven by various factors, including geopolitical rivalry and conflicts, which typically puts upward pressure on inflation.

I was reading a report by BlackRock that thinks inflation will be back again in 2025 as the drag from goods inflation (deflation) wears off. I believe that.

While I cringe at the CC debt and continue to ponder our reckless drive towards AI, I'm left baffled that a 'sport' we played in our youth because we were too poor to afford gym memberships... apparently has an 'aesthetic.' We live in a very strange world, Amrita... 🤦🏻

Very happy the Fri5 is back! ☺️

We do indeed. I am personally always amused when I read trend reports, since I am someone who does her own thing. As for badminton, I love the simplicity of it, I often play it in my living room with my partner when I need a break, best feeling ever.

Thanks for your support.
